Frown lines are deep lines in-between your eyebrows often formed when concentrating or angry. If these are not treated, over time, a permanent line can appear called the ‘11’s’ lines. The frown lines appear as a result of 2 different muscle groups contracting called the procerus and the corrugators.

Anti-wrinkle injections even twice yearly will dramatically decrease line formation and can clear fine lines permanently in this area. It can also help relieve any tension that is held in this area due to the muscle contracting so often, which can ease headaches.
These are little wrinkles that appear around the bridge of your nose when you laugh. Two simple small injections into the contracting muscle can smooth the area. It will ensure no deeper lines appear around the nasal bridge that could emphasis the nose more.

As we age the muscles around our mouth called the depressor anguli oris (DAO) can become tighter and stiff. This pulls on the corners of our mouth, giving us a sad look which can be ageing. Treating this large muscle on either side of the jaw can cause it to relax and is fantastic for patients suffering from jaw clenching (Bruxism).
Jaw clenching causes grinding damage to the teeth and a tight masseter muscle which creates tension headaches radiating from the neck up to the temple area.
These chew muscles can significantly enlarge, giving a square/box face. Injecting into each muscle can relax the area and reduce headaches. The injections will also protect the teeth and give a more feminine contouring of the lower face.
The neck can give away your age. Muscles that pop out from the base of the neck to either side of your neck when you strain or talk energetically are called the Platysmal bands.

The most common areas that are requested for treatment include frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet (lines around the eyes). We are also experienced in subtly lifting or reshaping areas of the face, including the brow (to reshape and lift), jaw line (to slim), gummy smile (to lower a top lip and reduce the show of the upper gum), Marionette area (to lift a droopy smile), chin (to reduced dimpled appearance), Platysmal bands in the neck (to reduce their visibility), smokers lines (to reduce fine lines along the upper lip) and bunny lines (to smooth the sides of the nose).
Anti-wrinkle injections have been used medically in the UK since 1977, and within the cosmetic industry for around 20 years. It is a purified protein which is injected to temporarily relax the facial muscles responsible for causing lines and wrinkles. As the muscles relax, the overlying skin which has been creased tight into fine folds, also relaxes and lines and wrinkles smooth away.
Treatment for lines and wrinkles, or re-contouring of the face, will always begin with a consultation to determine the correct treatment for you. If Anti-wrinkle injections is appropriate, you will have the opportunity to have your treatment on another day, or if you feel fully informed and comfortable to proceed, the treatment can usually be done the same day.
The procedure itself involves only minor discomfort as we use only ultra-fine (disposable) needles and offer numbing cream (although many patients find this unnecessary). The process takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. Although mild redness and slight swelling is common immediately after treatment, this usually resolves within 30 minutes. Mild bruising is possible, but for the vast majority of patients, there is no real downtime, and most will return to work or their usual daily activities immediately.
Effects begin to show between 3- and 14-days following treatment. We invite our patients back after two weeks to review the results and make any fine adjustments where necessary. This is considered an integral part of the treatment and does not incur any extra charge.
Treatment results last an average of 3-4 months, although noticeably longer can be achieved in some cases. It is important to note that anti-wrinkle injections are to reduce lines and wrinkles or reshape the face and is not a permanent solution. Lines, wrinkles and previous facial form will eventually return, and further treatments will be required.
People begin to show signs of ageing at different ages. This is largely dictated by genetics and environmental factors. In addition, what might be a concern for one person, might be attractive or even un-noticed by another. As such there is no right answer to this question. What is important is that each individual is assessed on account of their own personal concerns, objectives, and medical history. Anti-wrinkle injections are still largely unregulated in the UK, allowing for wide variation in the qualifications and experience of practitioners, and the standard of treatment provided to patients.

We ask that patients avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, excessive heat (such as saunas, sunbeds, or steam rooms) and massage of the treated area for 24 hours post treatment. Beyond that, no special precautions need be taken, and you can simply look forward to the results of your treatment taking effect.
